  • 200g milk powder
  • 50g plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 80ml milk

Make it step by step

Method

    Simmer sugar with 300ml water, cardamom and rose water for 6 minutes; keep warm.

    Mix milk powder, flour and baking powder, then add ghee and enough milk for a soft dough.

  3. 3

    Rest 10 minutes and roll into smooth, crack-free balls.

  4. 4

    Fry slowly at 150–160°C until evenly deep golden.

  5. 5

    Soak in warm syrup for at least 45 minutes.

Chef’s tip

Low frying heat lets the centres cook before the outside becomes dark.
